A TIMESPACE MAP
A timespace map, across 500 years of North Inner city, Dublin, from Henrietta Street to Grangegorman, using motion graphics, live footage and charcoal drawings, narration voiced by Aidan Gillen, questioning the arbiters of socially acceptable norms.
A fragmented journey, across time and space over 500 years, through the architectural, psychological and socio-political changes in a confined space of Dublin’s north inner city. From the 16thand 17th century land grab creation of the Monck and Moore estates to economic growth and the vast townhouses of Dublin’s first Georgian street, Henrietta Street, to changing roles of the King’s Inns, Broadstone, 18thcentury and 19th century high tech, canal and railway, to 19th/20thand 2ist century innovation in social control and rehabilitation, from the Richmond Penitentiary and Mental Asylum, to Grangegorman, St Brendan’s, now transformed to the Phoenix Health Centre and the new Technology Universcity Dublin campus, and all the questions this suggests for the future.
Narrated by the imagined, irreverent voice of a dead artist friend, Tony Rundenko, voiced by Aidan Gillen and music by composer Roger Doyle.
With charcoal drawings, animation and live action footage created and scripted by Trish McAdam, with collaboration, on motion graphics, from Marc Sherwin, Psychotherapist, Dr Paul Caviston, and advisors Orla Barry (former CEO Mental Health Ireland), and meetings with staff of the GDA, HSE and National Archives, King’s Inns and Broadstone.
